Privacy Policy
Last updated September 13, 2026
I Did It is a community where inventors share what they build. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the I Did It website and apps, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.
01Who can use I Did It
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. I Did It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we delete it. If you believe a child under 13 is using I Did It, please contact us.
02Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, your password (held securely by our sign-in provider and never visible to us), display name, username, and optional profile photo and bio.
- Sign in with Google or Apple: the name and email address from that account, or the private relay address Apple provides if you choose to hide your email.
- What you post: inventions, photos, videos, build logs, tags, categories, comments, and drafts.
- Your activity: likes, follows, saved posts, blocks, reports you submit, and your notification settings.
- Anything you send us, for example when you contact support.
03Information collected automatically
- Device information needed to send push notifications, such as a notification token and whether your device runs iOS or Android.
- App version and crash reports, which include your device model, operating system version, and technical details about the error.
- Security signals from Apple and Google app attestation services, which help confirm that requests come from genuine copies of our apps.
- The categories and posts you view and like, which we use to rank your feed.
04How we use information
- To run I Did It: creating your account, publishing and showing posts, and sending the notifications you've chosen.
- To personalise your feed based on what you view and like.
- To keep the community safe: automatically checking posts, comments, usernames, and uploads for content that breaks our rules, and reviewing reports.
- To protect accounts and the service from abuse, and to find and fix bugs.
- To contact you about your account, such as verifying your email or resetting your password, and about challenges you've won.
05What other people can see
Your display name, username, profile photo, bio, follower and following counts, the inventions you post, and your comments are public. Anyone can see them, including people who aren't signed in.
Your email address, drafts, saved posts, blocks, notification settings, and reports are private.
06How we share information
We don't sell or rent personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers that run I Did It for us: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) for sign-in, databases, file storage, hosting, push notifications, crash reporting, and app attestation; and OpenAI, which checks the content you submit for anything that breaks our rules. These providers may only use the information to provide their services to us.
- With Apple or Google when you choose to sign in with them, and when push notifications are delivered through their services.
- When required by law, or when needed to protect the safety of our users or the public.
- As part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of I Did It, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
07How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, inventions, comments, likes, follows, saved posts, drafts, notifications, and uploaded files. Copies may remain in backups for up to 30 days. We may keep reports and limited records longer when we need them for safety, legal, or security reasons.
08Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile at any time.
- Delete your account in the app from Profile → Settings → Delete account, or on the website from your profile.
- Choose which push notifications you receive in the app's notification settings.
- Block anyone, and report posts, comments, or people who break our rules.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download, or delete your information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To make a request, contact us and we'll respond within the time required by law. We don't sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
09Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and security rules that limit who can read and change data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else.
10International users
I Did It runs on servers in the United States. If you use it from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
11Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy was last updated.
